The short version

Ember is the candle we reach for at the end of the day. It is not a bakery scent and it is not a floral one — it is built around the moment when the light drops, the kitchen is finished, and the room finally stops moving. Fig leaf gives it a green, almost milky sweetness; black tea adds tannin and dryness; vetiver and a whisper of birch smoke sit underneath and stay after the flame is out.

The wax is a coconut-soy blend chosen for how it behaves rather than how it markets. It holds a high fragrance load without sweating, it burns at a lower temperature than straight soy, and it pools cleanly to the edge of the vessel instead of tunnelling down the middle. Combined with a braided cotton wick, that means an even 45-hour burn with almost no soot and no black residue on the ceramic.

The vessel is the part you keep. It is thrown in a matte terracotta glaze with slight, deliberate variation from piece to piece — no two are identical, and the glaze deepens slightly where the wall is thickest. Once the wax is gone, the vessel washes out with warm water and becomes a match pot, a pen cup, a small planter, or simply the thing that sits on the shelf looking like it was always meant to be there.

Everything is poured in batches of fewer than 300 units,wicked by hand, and rested for ten days so the fragrance fully binds with the wax before it is lit for the first time. If you have ever bought a candle that smelled wonderful cold and like nothing at all when burning, the resting step is the difference.

Care & use

• On the first burn, let the wax pool reach the full edge of the vessel (2–3 hours) to prevent tunnelling.
• Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn; keep the pool free of wick debris and matches.
• Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time, and stop when 10 mm of wax remains.
• To reuse: freeze for two hours, pop out the wax base, then wash with warm soapy water.
