A pair of 350 ml stoneware mugs finished in a speckled oatmeal glaze and dipped by hand into matte charcoal. Thick walls hold heat, the handle fits four fingers, and the unglazed foot shows the clay underneath.

The short version

Terra is the mug we make for people who drink slowly. The wall is thicker than it needs to be, which is exactly why a flat white stays hot through a long conversation. At 350 ml it holds a proper cup — not a thimble, not a bowl — and the wide C-shaped handle is sized so you can actually put four fingers through it instead of pinching it with two.

Each mug is glazed in two passes. The body is dipped in a speckled oatmeal glaze where iron in the clay blooms into small dark flecks during firing; the lower third is then dipped again into matte charcoal, leaving a soft, slightly uneven boundary line where the two meet. Because both dips are done by hand, the height of that line varies a few millimetres from mug to mug. The set is matched, not identical.

The foot ring is left unglazed and sanded smooth, so the raw clay body is visible at the base — a small detail that tells you this came out of a kiln and not a mould. Every piece is fired at 1240°C, which vitrifies the clay and makes it genuinely durable: chip-resistant at the rim, safe in the dishwasher, and safe in the microwave with no crazing over time.

Sold as a pair because most people do not drink alone. They stack neatly, they survive a dishwasher cycle twice a day, and they are heavy enough in the hand that you notice them — which is the whole argument for owning fewer, better things.
